The best way to engage with a busy world which has great challenges and ever increasing demands and anxiety is to meet the people where they are.
We need to support our community more in their comfort zone before we can ask them to come to our world.
Chaplaincy gives that opportunity to engage and interact with a society that is not regular in the church and has very little to do with it any more.
That does not mean that the needs have changed or the place of the church has been replaced. It only suggests that the church needs to know how best to support the society in a charging world.
This model is very highly supported in the bible where places and style of worship changed as the children of Israel adopted to various life challenges and change in life style.
In one event when the style was about to change Jesus said to the Samaritan Woman ” A day is coming… When true worshipers will no longer worship in the mountains… But will worship in Spirit and in truth.
Could this be the day that true worshipers will no longer worship in their churches, but in their hospitals, Universities, prison cells, supermarkets etc in Spirit and in truth.
The role of Chaplaincy today is both evident and essential for the furthering of the gospel and upholding the mission of the Church.
Heart for the City, is led and supported by full time University Chaplains who believe in the value of supporting High Education institutions in impacting change in the world.
We believe in the higher Education chaplaincy tradition, Radical Hospitality and Shaping the future of this nation and the entire globe through impacting the lives of University students and their lecturers and University Executives.
